Addressing Challenges in Alzheimer’s Disease in People with HIV

Assessment of Needs

Increasingly, clinical populations of people with HIV are in age ranges that increase their risk for Alzheimer’s disease and related dementia syndromes. Clinicians treating HIV will receive a higher number of queries from patients around these age-associated diseases. This webinar aims to describe gaps in our understanding of the intersection of HIV and Alzheimer’s disease and present some recent advances in Alzheimer’s disease research.

Learning Objectives

Upon completion of this activity, learners will be able to:

  • Describe the clinical challenges of diagnosing neurodegenerative disorders, such as Alzheimer’s disease, in people living with HIV

  • Critically examine recent outcomes in Alzheimer’s disease research

  • Identify ongoing challenges around the implementation of recent research findings related to Alzheimer’s disease
