World Mental Health Day: EATG launches campaign on intersectional stigma faced by people living with HIV and affected communities

On World Mental Health Day, EATG launches the ‘Stigma-Free’ campaign .

The campaign aims to raise awareness among healthcare professionals and community around intersectional stigma and discrimination faced by people living with HIV and affected communities and the impact it has on their mental health and health outcomes. In addition, we aim to contribute towards the recognition and integration of non-medicalised services and peer-led programmes in the response to mental health issues affecting people living with HIV.

The campaign calls on HIV and mental health professionals, trained lay workers and people living with HIV to:

  • Promote that HEALTH IS ABOUT WELLNESS.

  • Commit to STIGMA-FREE HIV & MENTAL HEALTH CARE.

  • Ensure CONTINUING HIV & MENTAL HEALTH EDUCATION for all professional and lay workers in this field.

  • Collaborate to ensure people living with HIV receive INTEGRATED HIV & MENTAL HEALTH CARE.

The campaign will be comprised of video and social media components as well as a webinar -to be published by the end of the year. In the frame of this campaign and the HIV & Mental Health project, more activities will be announced into 2024.

Stay tuned!
